This issue has long been debated and causing confusion all around, so let’s break it down.
Micro-pigmentation
Micro-pigmentation is a form of tattooing where ‘micro-dots’ of pigment are placed into the top layers of the skin, which ultimately creates your fabulous brows.
Is it Permanent or Semi-Permanent Makeup?
Over time, the pigment will begin to fade – if not through your lymphatic system, then the harmful UV rays, skincare, medical health and so on. However, a degree of colour may still be visible in the skin for a long time and therefore needs to be referred to as a ‘permanent’. To suggest that the procedure is ‘semi-permanent’ implies that the skin will return to its pre-tattooed state, and this is not the case.
What Does Permanent Actually Mean?
I have a moral obligation to my clients to mention that these procedures are permanent and remind them that even if they can no longer see any visible pigment, there may still be pigment particles under the skin that cannot be seen.
Why Does Permanent Makeup Fade Over Time?
Just note that fading is necessary for aesthetic micro-pigmentation enhancements because the body’s natural ageing process causes the facial features to droop over time, skin colourings to fade and features to lose their definition.
